ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Matthew LeCroy will return to Rochester to become the first manager of the Rochester Red Wings' affiliation with the Washington Nationals.
According to a report by the Washington Post, the former big-leaguer will be the manager in Rochester for the 2021 season, whenever it begins.
LeCroy is no stranger to Rochester, having played 80 games for the Red Wings in 2007. LeCroy played 476 games in his career in the majors, hitting 60 career home runs primarily with the Minnesota Twins. He saw most of his action at designated hitter or as a catcher. He's spent the last several years working in the Nationals organization as a manager and coach.
There has yet to be an official announcement by the Nationals or the Red Wings on the matter.
The 2021 season will be the first that the Red Wings will have with the Nationals, who they were paired with as part of a reorganization of Minor League Baseball.
