ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WHEC) — Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes is in the concussion protocol.

He could still play against the Bills on Sunday, but he has to pass various concussion-related tests in order to be cleared from the protocol before he's allowed to play.

When Sean McDermott was asked about the Mahomes injury Monday, he said that the Chiefs are still a dangerous team whether Mahomes plays or not.

"They're so good with the weapons that they have around Patrick, Andy does such a good job, they're well-coached," McDermott said. "We've got to prepare for the system, we have to prepare for both quarterbacks and that's why we have a lot of work to do this week."

Regardless of what happens on Sunday night, Sean McDermott says that it's an honor to be one of just four teams left in the NFL.

"There are a lot of good teams that aren't playing anymore and we're grateful to play together as a team and be around one another this week and do the best we can to try and limit distractions and the other kind of noise that's out there and focus on our preparation," McDermott said.
