McQuaid honors senior class, on and off the rink

February 09, 2019 09:52 PM

On Saturday the McQuaid Ice Hockey team took on Orchard Park at Thomas Creek, but before the game got underway, the Jesuit Knights took time to celebrate their senior class, including Cooper Petrone.

Petrone was diagnosed with stage four non-Hodgkin Lymphoma last summer, which ended his senior hockey season before it even began.

He's been with the team throughout the course of this year, cheering them on despite not being able to suit up himself.

On Saturday, he was honored with the rest of his senior class. In addition, McQuaid gave Cooper and his family a check for $8,000, raised from an on-going fundraiser, in hopes to help alleviate the family's financial burden that accompanies treatment.
