HONEOYE, N.Y. (WHEC) -- At News10NBC we like to feature the best and brightest athletes from this year's high school graduating class, but on the very rare occasion, the soon-to-be graduating high school athlete is not a senior.
"You need to be driven and determined because there are times you start to get packed down," says Honeoye's Ethan Ball.
Driven and determined are perfect words to describe the traits required to succeed in sports and school. But Honeoye's Ethan Ball takes that a step further; he's graduating high school a full year early.
But for someone who plays three varsity sports, why leave early?
"Just felt like it was time to get out, move on to something, get into college, get a job," says Ethan.
This process started a long time ago for Ethan.
He started taking online classes in the summer as a freshman with the idea of graduating in three years. Next year, he'll study business management at Keuka College.
Despite only staying for three years, the National Honor Society and student council member will leave Honeoye a better place as he helped bring an anti-bullying group to school.
"You can see a more positive attitude, one of their messages is that there's always a way and I found that really inspiring," adds Ethan.
Congratulations Ethan Ball, the News10NBC Scholar-Athlete of the Week!
