ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- When he steps onto the court, Ryan Hilton is the go-to guy.
The senior on the Harley Allendale Columbia basketball team can shoot from the outside and score on the inside, but he says his best asset is his court awareness.
"I don't take a lot of three-pointers because I feel we can get better shots in the paint and more open shots," says Ryan.
When he's not running the floor and filling up the stat sheet, Ryan maintains a 3.7 GPA with three AP courses and next year, he wants to study data science in college.
"I've always been fascinated in statistics and that aspect of sports, seeing stats used in ESPN and FOX when they're broadcasting their games is really fascinating," adds Ryan.
Ryan also has a very giving side. In his free time, he volunteers at events with a group called "Autism Up" which helps people who have autism, like his older brother.
"Autism Up is a non-profit that focuses on helping people with autism develop reading and writing skills, communication skills, all the basic things that an average person takes for granted," says Ryan.
He is a basketball player who's right on the mark.
Congratulations Ryan Hilton, the News10NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week!
