Opening ceremony for Little League State Championships held Tuesday

PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Little League State Championships started Tuesday and a local team has a chance to represent the east region.

Fairport is among eight teams that have qualified to compete.

Opening ceremonies were Tuesday morning at the Penfield Little League Complex.

There will be games there all week leading up the championship game on Sunday.

"The kids were here yesterday practicing, they were here a got here at 6:30 this morning and there were teams out here at quarter of 7 so the kids are definitely very pumped up for this," said NYS Little League Championship Tournament Chairman Greg Kamp.

The team crowned champion will move onto Bristol, Connecticut for the Little League Regionals. After that, the world series is in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
