TAMPA, Fla. (WHEC) -- Rochester native and NHL forward Ryan Callahan will be placed on long-term injury reserve.
The vice president and general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team announced Callahan will be on reserve with degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine.
“He’s such a proud competitor, such a fierce competitor. I know he was planning to not only play out this contract, but sign another contract after that.” Julien BriseBois, general manager of Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 34-year-old skated in 52 games with the Bolts during the 2018-19 season.
Overall, Callahan has appeared in 757 career NHL games with the Bolts and New York Rangers.
