Rocket End Amerks Season In 5th OT

ROCHESTER, NY (WHEC) – The Laval Rocket defeated the Rochester Americans, 6-5 in the 3rd overtime of Wednesday night’s game. With it, Laval completes the 3-game sweep of the Amerks and brings their season comes to an end.

Rochester opened the scoring on a Mark Jankowski goal just over a minute into the contest before JJ Peterka notched his second score of the series and the first of two on the night. Following four unanswered by Laval later in the 2nd, Rochester responded with a pair of their own to begin to the 3rd including one from Brett Murray who wound up giving Rochester the lead with 11:25 left in regulation.

With 1:07 remaining, Jesse Ylönen got the equalizer for Laval, which registered 60 shots on goal. 24 of those came in the three overtime periods that ensued. However, it only took one in the 3rd to get the job done. Jean-Sébastien Dea scored on a power play goal to end a game that took over four and a half hours to play.

With the loss, Rochester’s season comes to an end.
