Normally a soft-spoken guy, this week's News10NBC Scholar Athlete likes to make noise, and in so many ways.
A member of the jazz band and percussion ensemble at McQuaid, Jared Campbell lets his play on the football field speak for itself.
He's the 29th ranked punter in the country.
"I'm trying to help out the rest of the team, trying to pin the other team back as far as I can and I kick so I'm scoring points, kicking off, doing everything," said Jared Campbell, senior.
Jared hopes his skills on the football field lead to a D1 scholarship to play the sport he loves next year, but this year he has his sights set on a sectional trophy.
A sectional title in football would be just the second in McQuaid's history.
"We really think we have a good shot this year. This senior class was going through the ranks to turn this program around," added Campbell. "It would mean so much, it's so rare for football around here. We've only done it once, it would just mean a lot."
When Jared's not skying punts or hitting the symbol on the drum set, the National Honor Society member enjoys the chess club and also earned his Eagle Scout.
Congratulations to Jared Campbell, the News10NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week presented by Nixon Peabody and the Ide family of dealerships.
