Succeeding at swimming takes supreme dedication and hours of hard work nearly every day.
Greece Athena's Payton Wolcott has put in the work and hopes her effort will be remembered by her teammates for years to come.
"As a captain this year, I've been trying to bring a lot of spirit to the team and leave a lasting impression with them."
This past weekend, Payton competed in four events at sectionals. Next year, she hopes to swim in college and study engineering.
"I've always been good at math and science. It's amazing to see how things work, there's limitless choices in engineering."
In the future Payton hopes to be a swim coach.
"If I'm not still swimming, I'd like to coach. My coaches were great and I want to pass along that to younger kids and help them find the love of the sport like I did."
That sounds like a great idea!
Congratulations Payton Wolcott, the News10NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week, presented by Nixon Peabody and the Ide Family of Dealerships.
