(WHEC) — Major League Baseball hopes to revamp the lower levels of its minor leagues, and there is a proposal to strip the major league affiliation of 42 teams.
The Batavia Muckdogs are one of those teams, and teams in Auburn and Binghampton are as well.
Today Senator Chuck Schumer said he will do what he can to keep Upstate New York’s minor league teams affiliated with the majors.
"I think it would be very bad for the Muckdogs to be downgraded, and any other team and I'm going to call Mr. Manfred, he's the head of Major League Baseball and he actually comes from upstate New York, he's a Rome, New York native, and make a strong push," Senator Schumer said.
