ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- Basketball sectionals begin Tuesday night and two top seeds, Hilton and Mendon, met for a scrimmage Tuesday morning to prepare for their upcoming games.

As News10NBC's Breland Moore points out, these are similar teams with the same goal.

Top seeds, Mendon in A1, Hilton in AA, scrimmaged with sectional titles on the mind.

The Mendon Vikings are undefeated for the first time in school history but feel no pressure heading into the postseason.

"With these guys, I feel like they're just so mature beyond their years that it doesn't feel that way. 20-0 is nice but we'd trade in 20-0 any day for one of these titles," says Mendon head coach Bob Nally.

The secret to their success?

Their relationship off the court.

"We're best friends and we're all really close and love playing together," says Mendon sophomore Jacob Shadders, "so that chemistry just really shows on the floor and has led to a lot of success."

Hilton enters sectionals with a record of 17 and 3 and has Section V standout Tah'jae Hill in their starting five.

"We've certainly never had someone like that in my tenure here. He's pretty special," says Hilton head coach Troy Prince.

But making headlines can also make a player a bit of a target.

"You know I just have to remain confident and relax and don't let them speed me up and get that target off of me and try to play together as a team and not force things," says Hilton junior Tah'jae Hill.

If the cadets can capture the brick, they would become the first team in program history to do so.

"It's a dream come true for every Section V basketball team and every Section V basketball player," adds Hill.
