Two RCSD schools to have girls flag football available in April

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — RCSD will open up a new program under the NYSHSAA – girls flag football will kick off in April.

James Monroe Upper School and Edison Career Technology School will both add the sport for the spring of 2022.

Girls in grades 9-12 who attend any of the RCSD schools will be able to join one of the two teams being formed. The RCSD schools will play other teams from Section V.

Games will be 7-on-7 on a regulation size football field.

Each team’s schedule will consist of between six and eight games with the season ending in May.

The program was created in partnership with the Buffalo Bills, NY Giants and NY Jets, who will provide funding to 48 schools within the six sections in NY state. Nike helped with with uniforms and equipment.
