On Wednesday night, the wings had a chance for their ninth straight win. They haven't won that many in a row since winning 10 straight in 1992.

Spikes and the Wings took on Columbus at Frontier Field.

The Wings got a lights-out start from Lewis Thorpe. Nine strikeouts in five scoreless innings, his 79 strikeouts are the most in the international league this year.

The Wings lose 3-2.

Their next long winning streak starts Thursday against Columbus.
