ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Police said that Carlos Roman-Morales, a 40-year-old homeless man, is the name of the person fatally shot on Weaver Street on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Roman-Morales was a victim in one of Wednesday night’s shootings across four locations in Rochester, which all happened within an hour from each other. Out of the six gunshot victims, he was the only one to die from his injuries.

The Rochester Police Department said that Roman-Morales was well-liked in his neighborhood and often helped people. Police haven’t found any of his family members. Police are asking anyone who can help them to get in touch with Roman-Morales’s family to call the Major Crimes Unit at 585-428-7157.

The Rochester Police Department and New York State Troopers responded to the shooting on Weaver Street near Joseph Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. They found Roman-Morales dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Police believe he was walking down the street when he was hit and don’t know if he was the intended target. No suspects are in custody.

Shortly before that murder, RPD responded to a report that came in around 9:50 p.m. of a person shot on Frost Avenue near Genesee Street. Officers found a 17-year-old boy injured at the scene. An ambulance rushed him to the hospital.

During their investigation, police learned about two other victims, both men in their 20s, who were shot on Frost Avenue. Both were dropped off at the hospital in personal vehicles. All three victims are expected to survive.

Just moments before that triple shooting, police responded to a shooting on Wilson Street at around 9:30 p.m. They found a man in his 20’s lying in the roadway. An ambulance took him to the hospital and he is being treated with life-threatening injuries.

RPD said there is no evidence that any of these shootings are related. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
