ROCHESTER, N.Y. —  New York State troopers were involved in an hours-long standoff at a building on Upper Falls Boulevard across from Baden Park overnight after chasing a suspect.

State Police say they tried to stop Charles Reed in a Suburu Outback on Hudson Avenue near Weeger Street at 6:19 Tuesday night. Reed drove off, which started the chase. He stopped outside 532 Upper Falls Blvd, and hopped out of the car as it was still moving. Police explain he went into his apartment and barricaded himself.

Troopers used megaphones to call for Reed to come out of the building. News10NBC’s photojournalist saw troopers use flash bangs and saw a SWAT team at the scene.

It took hours to get Reed out of his apartment, but troopers eventually arrested him.

Reed has been charged with reckless endangerment, obstruction of governmental administration, and traffic infractions.
