ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Registration is underway for the Compeer Rochester 3rd Annual Walk A Milestone fundraiser being held November 21-27, 2022. Walk registrants can choose how to participate in the hybrid event: in-person, virtually, or both. The in-person walk begins at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26; the virtual walk can be done any time during the weeklong event, alone or with friends. Registration is free; donations are welcome. Learn more and register here.

The in-person walk starts in the Compeer parking lot at 259 Monroe Avenue and proceeds for one mile down South Clinton Avenue in the South Wedge. There will be several stops along the route offering a place to refresh; a shuttle will be available at the last stop for walkers who would prefer a ride back to Compeer. A route map is available on the Compeer website walk link.

Walk A Milestone signifies that a journey is often comprised of small steps, or “mini-milestones”.

Since Compeer Rochester promotes mental wellness through supportive relationships, connecting with others is a step forward, or mini-milestone, on the way to better mental health. Starting a fresh routine, taking out a library book, even leaving the house can be significant to someone with a mental-health challenge. Mini-milestones are meaningful, powerful, and symbolic of creating positive change.

Compeer Rochester is a community-based mental health organization that facilitates positive social outlets and mentorships for adults, children, teens, veterans and families through volunteer-based programs. Founded in Rochester in the 1970s, the award-winning nonprofit Compeer Program has been replicated nationally and internationally.
