BYRON, N.Y. – The town of Byron celebrated its 200th birthday Saturday. The town started as a farming community in 1820.

Celebrations had to be put off three times because of the pandemic, but the community was finally able to get out to celebrate. There were family-friendly activities, history exhibits, and a parade to celebrate.

“It only happens once in a lifetime, once in our lifetime. Thank goodness we are where we are when it came about, at our 200th,” said Peter Yasses and Debra Buck-Leaton.

Saturday night’s celebration will be capped off with a fireworks display.
