ROCHESTER, N.Y. — New York State has a plan to expand the state’s electric vehicle infrastructure and it’s now available to the public online.

Feedback will be used by the Department of Transportation to build fast-charging stations throughout the state.

Charging infrastructure will be built no more than 50 miles apart and less than a mile away from designated travel corridors.

For the Rochester area—that’s Interstate 390 and I-90.

“New York State is implementing a nation-leading agenda to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions under Governor Kathy Hochul’s leadership,” New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez said.  “New York’sNational Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program is a key part of that agenda and provides a roadmap to ensure that EV drivers can safely travel throughout New York State to reach interstate, regional and long-distance destinations.  It’s important that New Yorkers learn about the program and provide feedback on the plan so we can work to build out our electric vehicle infrastructure now, and into the future.”
