ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It’s a big day for eight people in the Rochester community. Members of the Rochester Police Department Workforce Development Program graduated on Sunday, taking the next step in becoming an officer.
The ceremony was held at the Public Safety Training Facility. The program is a unique approach to police recruiting, which gets people out volunteering in the community they will be serving. Police say there are about 70 positions in the department that need to be filled. All eight graduates will start the Rochester Police Academy next week.
