ROCHESTER, N.Y. — New Yorkers passed the Environmental Bond Act. This was the one and only proposition on the ballot.
At last check, it passed with nearly 59% of the vote. Lawmakers say it will address climate change.
The measure authorizes state debt and the sale of bonds totaling $4.2 billion. The money will be used for projects like land restoration and flood risk reduction. Some of it would also go to conservation and water infrastructure improvement.
