ESL Federal Credit Union expanding to North Goodman Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There’s a new ESL Federal Credit Union location in the Greater Rochester area.

The bank celebrated the construction of its newest branch on Tuesday at 786 North Goodman Street.

ESL leaders, members of the community, and dignitaries signed a construction beam that will be built into the structure of the new office as a symbol of the community working together to support one another.

“We look forward to continuing to connect with residents and businesses throughout the Beechwood neighborhood and the surrounding communities by supporting them with their banking and financial needs,” said Marcelina Nobrega Courtney, ESL Senior Vice President/Director, Retail Banking. “We know our success as a financial institution is intrinsically tied to the success of our community. There is a need to improve access to quality financial products and services within the City of Rochester and we are committed to meeting that need.”

Construction began in July of 2022 and is scheduled to be completed The Goodman Street location will employ nine people to its workforce. The full-service facility will have 24-hour ATM access and drive-through teller services.

“We do have our naysayers and doubters questioning our choice to serve this market. Most of those negative comments focus on the challenges this neighborhood and its residents have faced due to a variety of complex reasons. So to all those naysayers, I say it is up to all of us to look for ways in which we can make all parts of our community stronger,” said Faheem Masood, President and CEO, ESL Federal Credit Union.
