ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Skaters competed in the Genesee Regional Competition for the Rochester Silver Blades figure skating team on Sunday. It’s an inclusive team for skaters with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The skaters compete in the Special Olympics. Winners will now go on to the state level competition in Syracuse next weekend.

“Working through from a local level to a regional level being able to go up to states. It’s just really able to showcase our skaters’ achievements and abilities on the ice and that’s what we’re here to do,” said Nicole Fess, the head coach of the Silver Blades Figure Skating Team.

The team’s coaches all volunteer and they say they’re proud of their athletes’ hard work.
