WEBSTER, N.Y. — A fire broke out on Thursday morning at Webster Schroeder High School.
The West Webster Fire District says the fire alarm was activated around 10:40 Thursday morning. Multiple fire companies responded to the scene as a small fire broke out.
Officials say the fire was related to a piece of shop equipment, and the room where the equipment was will be out of service.
Everyone at the school was evacuated. No one was injured and students did not return for the rest of the day.
The school says students will not have classes on Friday, May 26, due to the fire. The Webster Aquatic Center, located on Webster Schroeder’s campus, will also be closed for the remainder of Thursday and on Friday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation as crews work on smoke mitigation.
