Owner of Wilbert’s speaks about fire that destroyed auto parts shop

WEBSTER, N.Y. – Crews battled a blaze on Salt Road at Wilbert’s Premium Auto Parts of Webster that destroyed the building that housed the auto parts shop.
Co-owner Richard Wilbert said employees noticed smoke in the building on Saturday at 11 a.m. and they tried to put it out but were not able to. The fire spread quickly and at least seven fire departments responded to the fire.
No one was hurt and there was no structural damage to the main building.
A four-alarm fire was called because of frozen fire hydrants.
“We’re waiting for the insurance company to see what the assessment of the damage is. We’re encouraging all our employees to be back to work in a timely manner. We’re cleaning up the outside of the building now. We’ll have to wait and see the results of the insurance,” Wilbert said.
He also said they want to get back to business as soon as possible.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
