ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Showers and thunderstorms associated with a large area of low pressure spinning through the Great Lakes Tuesday will end, leaving us with a partly cloudy sky overnight.

Another cold front dropping through on Wednesday will bring a fresh breeze, followed by temperatures dropping from the 70s on Wednesday, into the 60s for highs by Thursday afternoon. That being said, we’ll see an abundance of sunshine on Thursday, with a big area of high pressure directly overhead. Low temperatures Thursday night will drop into the 40s for many spots away from Lake Ontario. It may be cool enough for some to turn the heat on by Friday morning! Another weak boundary dropping through on Friday will tend to bring a little more in the way of cloud cover, but temperatures should rebound back into the lower 70s.

The weekend looks pretty good at this point, with a mix of clouds and sun, and temperatures warming back into the 80s. There continue to be signs of a true surge of summer air for at least the first half of next week, with highs potentially well into the 80s. But this isn’t a certainty yet, as a front nearby may try to keep the warmest air just out of western New York. Stay tuned!
