ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Thursday will be a beautiful day but we have a Yellow Alert for Friday as locally heavy rain is on the way.

Enjoy the sunshine and temperatures near 70 on Thursday as weather will go downhill the next day. Our First Alert Threat Tracker is yellow for Friday as the remnants of Nicole rapidly move north toward our region.

Friday morning looks dry with mild conditions through midday. Rain will develop between noon and 2 p.m. from south to north. There will be steady, soaking rain, heavy at times into the night. Most of the region will pick up between 1 and 2 inches of mainly beneficial rainfall.

Local amounts to 3 inches is possible and that may lead to some ponding issues on area roadways and flooded basements. We are not anticipating any widespread flooding at this time but some localized issues Friday evening into early Saturday morning.

Stay tuned to News10NBC for the latest on the timing and amounts as we get closer to the storm.
