ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Maybe you are heading to the airport, the New York State Thruway or maybe just going to Wegmans. Overall, conditions are going to be pretty good leading up to the holiday. Obviously, weather is always going to be a concern because it is the busiest time of the year for traveling.

If you are going by car out west, the New York State Thruway looks to be clear sailing. Remember, it was just a couple of days ago that they had some shut-downs on the western portion of the Thruway due to the heavy snow.  But now it is all clear. In addition, there are no weather issues if you’re traveling to the east.  Destinations such as Syracuse or Albany look to be dry through Thursday.

Always check with your airline before heading to the airport, but right now if you are traveling to the East Coast and the Midwest, all airports are cooperating. At least the weather is not slowing things down. At the current time, there are no big delays for the airlines.

So the simplest way of describing this time period is going to grandma’s house, the weather looks fine, but coming back from grandma’s house, after the holiday, there could be some weather concerns. We have a storm that is anticipated to be rolling though the eastern one-third of the country. The timeframe that will be problematic for the inclement weather is from Friday to Sunday. Some localized downpours will be a possibility and the big airport hubs is where you could see some delays.

The weather can cause some travel frustrations, but the important thing is to keep it safe for everybody – no matter what the weather is like.
