First Alert Weather: News10NBC Yellow Alert has ended

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It has been a busy day for the News10NBC meteorologists with several rounds of thunderstorm squalls moving across Western New York. The Rochester area could still see a few showers and thundershowers tonight, especially east of the Genesee Valley, but it appears the worst is over tonight. However, the flood watch continues as area creeks and streams are running high due to the significant amount of rainfall over the last 24 hours. Many communities measured well over an inch of rain. We anticipate that the flood watch will be discontinued later tonight.
In addition, there have been reports and pictures of significant wind damage in the community of Ellicottville which is approximately 80 miles southwest of Rochester. The National Weather Service will be sending a survey team to the area on Tuesday to determine if it was a tornado.

As a cold front passes around midnight, humidity levels will begin to decrease, and the chance of rain will lessen. Tuesday any scattered showers will be gone for the early morning and skies will become mostly sunny. The temperature will be in the lower 70s.
