ROCHESTER, N.Y. Waking up to a windy, wet, and mild Saturday across our region.
Winds will be the big story for us today as we could see gusts near or over 50 m.p.h. later today. Through the morning hours though, winds will likely be gusting near 40 m.p.h. before the cold front swing through toward the middle of today.
The gustiest time of the day will be with the passage of this cold front. The timeframe we are looking at is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Gusts within that timeframe will have the greatest chance to gust near or over 50 m.p.h.
Then after that timeframe winds will remain gusty into the evening hours today but will only be gusting to near 40 m.p.h. and the bigger story there will be the wind chill as colder air filters in. In terms of power outages, we are not expecting widespread outages.
Just like what we saw on Wednesday with isolated outages, that is what we are expecting for today. As far as rain showers with this front, it will not be raining all day. A few showers will be possible this morning, but our best chance for rain will move in as the front passes through.
Rain chances will then diminish after the front rolls through and we will then end the day with a few flakes as the cold air moves in. As far as temperatures, we will remain mild before the front passes through and then drop into the 30s by this evening.
Make sure you have the winter coat ready to go as temperatures in the 30s this evening with the gusty winds will make it feel like the low 20s and teens tonight.
