First pediatric monkeypox case detected in NYS

NEW YORK The first pediatric case of monkeypox was detected in New York this week.

According to health officials, the patient lives outside New York City. There has been an increase in infections involving children and teens, according to new data from state and federal agencies.

The majority of vaccine supplies have been directed to New York City and its suburbs, which have the largest outbreaks. Monroe County has had seven confirmed cases of the virus, according to the state.
