UPDATE: RPD said they would give an update on the status of the child Monday.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. A 4-year-old girl was shot overnight in the City of Rochester.

She is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Strong Hospital. Just before midnight, police responded to Selye Terrace for the report of shots in the area.

When they got there, they found evidence of gunfire, but they did not find any victims. During their investigation, they learned that a car may have driven away and was headed to the hospital with a child victim in tow.

Moments later, a personal car arrived at RGH with a 4-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound. She was then taken to Strong Hospital for further evaluation.

Police say there were six people inside a parked car at the time of the shooting: three children — ages 6, 4, and 10 months old — and three adults. Investigators say an unknown suspect approached the car and started firing.

Selye Terrace has since reopened to traffic. Investigators are asking anyone with information to please call 911.
