ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A family here in Rochester now has a brand new place to call home. The Flower City Habitat for Humanity Chapter dedicated a brand new home to a city resident on Tuesday morning.

It’s located in the JOSANA neighborhood on the west side of the city. It was built in part by the Builders Exchange of Rochester which donated its time, funding, and materials for the project.

Local students who are interested in construction were also able to get hands-on experience while lending a hand.

“They’re going through their own challenges. The building community was challenged by COVID, by a lot of things, crazy prices,” said Matt Flanigan, president and CEO of Flower City Habitat. “And yet they’re still so dedicated to making sure the community that they serve and serve with is taken care of. So, that’s why I say this one is so heartwarming because it’s the builders that put down their competition and came together.”

Since 1984, Flower City Habitat for Humanity has built or remodeled 250 homes across the city of Rochester for local families.
