ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Federation of Social Workers announced the 2022 honorees for the Human Service Worker of the Year Awards on Thursday.

The event was held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. This year the founder of the House of Mercy, Sister Grace Miller, was the recipient of the W. Burton Richardson Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I do what I feel like I need to do to help the people of the community, but I’m not expecting awards or rewards for it,” Miller said. “So this is quite an honor and I’ll accept it in that spirit of gratitude and gratitude that I can be with the people and help people that need us the most.”

RPD officer Sino Seng was also recognized with the 2022 Special Recognition for Extraordinary Human Service Award. Seng was shot along with fallen RPD officer Tony Mazurkiewicz in an ambush attack in July.
