ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The James Webb space telescope released its first images of Neptune.

The observatory’s views include rare looks at Neptune’s rings, providing some of the sharpest images of these ghostly features seen in more than 30 years.

Neptune is considered an “ice giant” because of its internal chemical composition.

Astronomers today could barely contain their emotions—with one tweeting “not gonna lie, I ugly-cried when I saw the Neptune images.”
