RPD releases name of man, 49, killed around Beechwood Street

UPDATE: Rochester Police say Rego Ellis, 49, is the name of the man shot and killed while walking down Beechwood Street near Hayward Avenue. Officers say no suspects are in custody yet.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Just after 11 a.m. on Wednesday, a man in his late 40’s was walking down Beechwood Street near Hayward Avenue when a car drove down the street and several gunshots at him. The man was shot in the lower body.

He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The victim was in front of the Habitat for Humanity home that is currently under construction, but he was not one of the people working on the house at the time of the shooting.

The victim lived in the Beechwood neighborhood and his name is being withheld until his family is notifiied.
