UPDATE: Police say Sideic Robinson, 19 of Rochester, is the name of the Burger King employee who was fatally shot while leaving work on Saturday night.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Rochester Police are investigating the first homicide of the year: A 19-year-old man was shot and killed while leaving work at Burger King on Lyell Avenue on Saturday night.

Neighbors who have lived on Lyell for decades say it’s normally quiet, but they always have their guard up.

“I have grandchildren, my great-grandchildren, when they’re here, they play in the backyard, they’re not allowed out on the front porch. I do feel like I’ve become desensitized, and that’s scary, and it’s scary because people are dying,” said Valerie Bundy.

News10NBC reached out to Burger King for a comment and received the following statement from their spokesperson:

“We have been made aware of the incident that occurred at this location. Our teams are working swiftly to confirm details of what occurred with the Franchisee.”
