ROCHESTER, N.Y. A new redistricting map has passed a vote in the Monroe County Legislature.
The proposal now heads to a public hearing and eventually to County Executive Adam Bello’s desk for approval. The map was passed by a 17-12 vote. The goal is to increase minority representation, but opponents argue the new maps would actually do the opposite.
On Friday, Bello released another illustrative map with a sixth minority-opportunity district and asked for the vote to be canceled.
