ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is trying to recruit more people to its road patrol.

The county launched a new Facebook page, with a push to get more people to apply. As of Thursday morning, the sheriff’s office has had 714 new applicants.

“It’s an extremely rewarding career. When you go out and get a chance to help people when they may be at one of the lowest points in their life, extend that little bit of help to them, maybe get them out of a bad situation, is very, very rewarding,” said MCSO Deputy Brendan Hurley.

There’s a day left to apply.
