IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. It’s a new place to play for everyone!

The ribbon was cut Wednesday at the new inclusive playground in Irondequoit. It’s at Heyer-Bayer Memorial Park on Rudman Road off Sea Breeze Drive. It’s a place where children of all abilities can learn, play and grow together.

“You don’t feel that disability when you can bring your kids here, play with them, and do all the different activities here,” said David Herbert, assistant technology practitioner at New Motion. “I think it’s really good for the community that I see more of these inclusive playgrounds coming about. It’s a big step in the right direction.”

Some of the accessible playground equipment added includes a swing, a whirl, a roller slide, and a sensory touch area. An accessible bathroom is expected to be added to the park next year.
