News10NBC Toys for Tots Holiday Drive is underway
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The sixth annual News10NBC Toys for Tots Holiday Drive, which seeks to spread cheer by giving toys to children in need, begins Wednesday.
You can drop off new, unwrapped toys for children ranging from newborns to age 16 now through Dec. 15 in collection boxes. There are dozens of participating locations across the region including every Quicklee’s convenience store in Monroe County. You can see a full list here.
Last year, the drive collected more than 91,000 toys which was a new local record. Over the past five years, the drive has collected more than 500,000 toys and has put toys in the hands of 120,000 kids. News10NBC’s Emily Putnam was live at Quicklee’s convenience store on Culver Road for the kickoff of toy drive. Toys for Tots representative Jason Tiefel says the greatest areas of need are children 9 to 16 years old.
Tiefel also says this year’s goal is getting 100,000 toy donations. After toys are placed in the bins, they will go to a warehouse to sort before they go to children in need. You can donate a toy online or request a toy on the website for Toys for Tots.
