NY HEAT Act legislation would cap utility bills for New Yorkers

Local and state lawmakers want the governor to pass legislation that advocates say will cap utility bills for New Yorkers.

It’s called the New York HEAT Act. Lawmakers Tuesday called on Gov. Kathy Hochul to include the bill in her proposed budget this January.

They say the bill will reduce future utility rate increases while adhering to “emission reduction targets.”
