Police make arrest for murder of teenager on Weld Street

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police have made an arrest in the murder of 17-year-old Chance Mosley on Weld Street on Tuesday.
RPD investigators said that Raymar Alexander shot Mosley at least ten times. Alexander is facing second-degree murder and weapons charges. He is now in the Monroe County Children’s Detention Center.
When officers arrived at the scene early Tuesday morning, they found Mosley dead. According to RPD, Alexander accidentally shot himself in the arm while firing at Mosley and Alexander was taken to Rochester General Hospital in a private car for treatment.
Alexander was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday and arraigned. His next court appearance will be on November 7.
Police said the shooting was a targeted act of violence and they’re not disclosing what they believe the motive was. According to police, both Mosley and Alexander were city residents but neither lived on Weld Street.
Earlier, RPD was investigating after shots were fired near a group on Weld Street near Scio Street who were mourning the murder of Mosley.
