SYRACUSE, N.Y. — President Joe Biden was in Syracuse on Thursday. He spoke at Onondaga Community College about the $100 billion investment being made by Micron to build a computer chip manufacturing plant.
The company says it could bring 50,000 jobs to New York State. The plant will be built in the town of Clay, a suburb north of Syracuse.
President Biden says it’s the largest American investment of its kind.
“We’re joined today by the CEO of Micron to celebrate their commitment to invest $100 billion over the next 20 years here in America to build factories and make semi-conductors,” Biden said. “And those small little computer chips that power everything in everyday life from our smartphones to our automobiles to washing machines, hospital equipment, you name it.”
The president was joined by Gov. Kathy Hochul as well as senators Schumer and Gillibrand.
