BATAVIA, N.Y. (WHEC) β€” The Reawaken America tour began in Batavia on Friday and will continue through Saturday.

The pastor at the church hosting the controversial conservative event said state officials are trying to intimidate and bully him.

Pastor Paul Doyle of cornerstone church said he got a letter from New York State Attorney General Letitia James that said the conservative tour could inspire “extremist or racially motivated violence.”

Doyle claims that letter was an attempt to silence conservative Christian voices.

β€œIt’s intimidation right from our government,” Doyle said.

The Attorney General’s Office doubled down, releasing a statement calling the event “nothing but a traveling carnival of hate speech, wild conspiracy theories and attacks on our democratic process.”

The Reawaken America Tour was scheduled to take place at the Main Street Armory until it was canceled and rescheduled at Cornerstone Church in Batavia.
