ROCHESTER, N.Y. News10NBC has a warning from deputies in Genesee County: Don’t leave anything valuable in your car.

Smash-and-grab thefts are on the rise. The ‘Felony Lane Gang’ is believed to be involved.

Deputies say they’re targeting cars parked in hiking areas, at parks and in parking lots. They’re taking IDs, credit cards, checks and other items that can be used to commit identity theft.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

We told you about this well-organized group years ago when they hit our area back in 2018.

Cars were targeted at the Webster Montessori School. Purses were also stolen from cars parked at the Penfield Fitness Center.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office told us back in 2020 it didn’t believe the gang was operating in the county. That was after a crash where a felony lane gang leader was killed in Alexander.
