ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Police said a driver running a red light was the cause of a serious crash at the intersection of State Street and Platt Street overnight on Tuesday.

Rochester police responded to the crash just after midnight. Officers determined that a driver was turning onto State Street when his car was hit by another driver, an 18-year-old man who ran a red light.

The driver who police said ran the red light was not injured and he received multiple traffic tickets. The other driver, a 34-year-old man, was taken to the hospital as a precaution. His car had significant damage.

The intersection had reopened to traffic.
