Motorcyclist arrested for DWI after pedestrian was struck in Greece

GREECE, N.Y. — A motorcyclist was arrested for driving while intoxicated after an investigation into Sunday’s hit-and-run on West Ridge Road near Stone Road that sent a man to the hospital.

Greece Police say a man, 42, was walking on a crosswalk on West Ridge Road when at least one motorcycle ran a red light and struck him. Police say the motorcycle fled the scene with two other motorcycles.

Officers responded at 8:20 p.m. and found the victim with injuries to the lower body and head. The man was taken to Strong Hospital where he underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.

Soon, Rochester Police saw three motorcycles on West Ridge Road and Dewey Avenue and followed them to Ridgeway Avenue, where the motorcycles headed westbound.

RPD says the pursuit continued until one of the motorcycles hit a vehicle at a red light at Ridgeway Avenue and Latona Road. The motorcyclist, a 31-year-old Lyndonville resident, suffered an arm injury and was taken to Strong Hospital. A second motorcyclist, who remained on the scene, was arrested for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation. Officers identified him as Jason Hirtreiter, 31 of Albion.

Police say the third motorcyclist got away. Greece Police are still investigating the hit-and-run on West Ridge Road.
