Syracuse man in custody for carrying a loaded gun into airport security

Update: A man was arrested on Tuesday after he entered the security checkpoint at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport with a firearm. At about 4:15 a.m. Alfonso Davis, 56, of Syracuse, entered the security checkpoint and set the metal detector alarm off. Inspection revealed that he had loaded 9mm pistol hidden inside a sling on his arm.

Davis was detained without incident, and was taken to the Monroe County Jail pending arraignment in Rochester City Court.

He is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of a firearm in a sensitive location, both felonies.

Update: Security at Frederick Douglass Rochester International Airport caught a Syracuse man with a 9mm gun loaded with 14 bullets at the TSA checkpoint on Tuesday morning. The gun was hidden in a sling, close to his hand. He claimed he forgot he had it on him. He was detained by law enforcement.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The security team at the Frederick Douglass Rochester International Airport stopped a man with a gun at a security checkpoint on Tuesday, said the TSA.
