MEDINA, N.Y. – Two firefighters with the Village of Medina Fire Department helped deliver a set of twins just in time for fireworks on Friday.

Firefighters responded to an EMS call just after 2 a.m. and on the way to United Memorial Hospital in Genesee County, delivered the two babies in two different counties.

“We train for all these calls but usually when we get an OB call, it’s just get mom and support mom to the hospital,” said Adam Fisher, firefighter with Medina Fire Department.

“She told me she thought she felt the baby moving, so that’s when I had my partner pull over so he could assist in case I needed an extra set of hands for possible delivery,” said Paul Urquhart, firefighter with the Medina Fire Department.

Officials say the baby boy arrived at 2:40 a.m. in Orleans County while the baby girl was born in Genesee County at 2:56 a.m. The fire department said the mother and both babies are doing well.
